Find your library style. No matter your reading preferences, the books you choose to keep in your home should hold special meaning for you — books that are only so-so aren’t worth making room for on your shelves. Once you’ve decluttered your library, it’s time to decide on a sorting method.
An inviting seating area with sectional sofa includes a fireplace with a black oxidized steel surround. A flat-screen TV and thick floating maple wood shelf sit above. Maple cabinets provide storage for entertaining supplies and media components.
Simplify your color scheme. Try to limit your room’s palette to no more than three colors for the entire space. “It’s best to keep it relatively monochromatic to help it feel less cluttered,” says Green. “Game rooms are busy in themselves with all of the entertainment items, so you want the rest of the space to feel quiet.”
As you can see, it’s just a few steps from the dining room to the drawing room in this home. Think about where you want your guests to gather after dinner — whether in your living room, family room or rec room — and make sure the spaces encourage an easy transition.
