Cabinets provide storage but also delineate spaces and create privacy in place of walls. The large center island helps define the kitchen from adjoining spaces and includes lots of well-organized drawers with dividers and racks on the back side. The built-in bench seen at the right side of this photo includes a handy shelf below for storage of cookbooks.
Light cabinets are the usual way to keep your utility room feeling fresh, but how about considering other options? A quick makeover with a darker shade, such as this elegant navy blue, imparts a modern country look, particularly when paired with aged brass taps and hardware.
Create a focal point with a feature wall. Game rooms usually have a lot of action, so it’s nice to develop a visual focal point so the eye isn’t jumping everywhere. Try focusing on the farthest end wall, since most attics are generally long and narrow.
A rec room can be fun for the whole family. Cards, board games, table tennis or (if you choose to add one) a TV to watch the game — in a rec room, there’s something for everyone. To make the most of the space, select furnishings that are soft and portable, so you can rearrange things to suit the activity.
